Welcome to Taiyoukan

Taiyoukan Inn located in the Sarugakyo-Mikuni Hot Spring region in Gunma Prefecture is a lodge proud of its high quality natural hot spring and Joshu local cuisine. The open-air bath that has hot spring water flowing freely and directly from the source can be found only at our inn among the entire hot spring village. We are certain that you will thoroughly enjoy the smooth thermal water and its rich health benefits. For your dining, we serve creative Japanese kaiseki (traditional Japanese meal served in a course style) dishes using branded ingredients and fresh seasonal bounty. Please amuse yourself tasting the selected delicacies made of locally-grown and locally-consumed materials.

Hot spring baths

“Yujyuku Hot Spring” is a natural hot spring that gushed out by itself 1300 years ago. It boasts its abundant hot water and rich health benefits and is favored by many people whose purpose is a hot spring therapy.

Open - air bath

Our open-air bath is all made of timber of Japanese cypress. Please enjoy to your heart’s content feeling the gentle aroma of cypress and watching the beautiful mountain scenery and the breathtaking star-filled night sky.

Baths of Taiyo(indoor baths)

You can also relax in the spacious indoor bath. After taking a bath, we recommend you to drink the water of longevity (the spring water).

Facilities

We insisted our lodge to be built of wood in order to create the traditional Japanese atmosphere. Although our inn is not 100% soundproof for that reason, we’ll be more than happy if you enjoy the typical Japanese atmosphere.

Cusine

Since we are very particular about materials made by and for locals, we offer selected dishes using plenty of locally-branded ingredients such as Joshu beef, Joshu mugi-pork (fed with wheat) and Akagi chicken with other seasonal bounty.

The nutrition of our breakfast menu is well balanced. It is also very mild to your stomach.
